SUMMARY OF POSITION
Life Enrichment Options (LEO) seeks an Executive Director who will join us in leading and nurturing communities where the care for and value of individuals with special needs moves from the exception to an intrinsic value of the community. We desire that these adults have every opportunity anyone would have for a loving, family home and full, vibrant life. It is time for LEO to create greater organizational structure and process along with the development of a broader fund development strategy as we transition from a working board to a governing board and increase our ability to inspire and serve.
Life Enrichment Options (LEO), a community based non-profit organization, advocates for and works to support individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve their life vision and goals through supportive housing, recreation and employment opportunities and community education.
Organization History and Overview
Until two years ago, Life Enrichment Options was an all-volunteer organization with a committed working board of ten members, two community outreach advisory committees and dozens of annual volunteers who made the accomplishments possible. With an increase in day-to-day operations, our Board of Directors determined it was necessary to add support staff to our roster. Starting June 2011, we hired two part time employees to assist us with administrative and development activities.
We currently consist of a twelve person Board of Directors who bring a depth of experience to our work including expertise in nonprofit leadership, accounting, financial services, entrepreneurial endeavors, medicine, parks and recreation, law enforcement, marketing and branding, etc. Everyone has direct experience with and passion for the population with special needs in one way or another.

Candidate Qualifications & Characteristics
Ideally this position would appeal to either someone looking to take their nonprofit leadership skills to the next level and/or someone who has worked in the field for some time and would appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with a Board of Directors, small staff and stakeholders in the transition from working board to a more formalized organization.
Nonprofit leadership experience is preferred. Some direct experience in the realm of organizational capacity building would be ideal. In addition, nonprofit legal and financial fluency are essential. An advanced degree in a related field or bachelor's degree with equivalent experience is required.
